About

Boruta Consulting

As a seasoned event organizer, I will help you achieve your goals with streamlined event planning practices. Your primary focus is on the bigger picture, content, and mission. My team and I will handle the rest.

My mission as your event organizer

I started my business to bring a sense of calm to an otherwise hectic, dramatic, and stressful event-planning environment. You don’t need any more stress in your life, let alone when planning your next big event or project.

I founded my business on these core principles and values:

  • Respect & excellent customer service are the keys to success.
  • Transparency about prices, intentions, team members, and work processes.
  • Responsibility for one’s work.
  • Attention to detail for a consistent concept.
  • Focus, flexibility & adaptability throughout the event cycle.

I am passionate about working with people who are engaged, present, and curious about what’s next. My end goal is to plan meaningful events where people come together for a common cause—whether that’s a new tech innovation or a philanthropic mission. I’ll turn your vision into a reality, inspiring discussion and opening up fruitful networking opportunities. We’ll partner with sponsors & exhibitors to attract precisely the type of attendees you want in the room. Then, we’ll engage them beyond the event for an excellent ROI that meets—or exceeds—your fundraising goals.

My Story

Portrait of Michael Boruta

I was born in Slovakia and moved to New York City in 2008. I began working in the events industry in 2009 as an event manager at a venue and later as an event planner. I started Boruta Consulting, my boutique event planning business, in 2016. Since 2020, I have also been an adjunct instructor for the Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality at New York University’s School of Professional Studies. I teach Facilities and Venue Management in the Event Management MS program.

I am a certified project management professional specializing in event planning, event management, and workshop facilitation for corporations & non-profits. Occasionally, I also provide event management support for large production companies. Thanks to my work at venues during the earlier stages of my career, and later as an event organizer myself, I understand the event planning process from both perspectives and know the obstacles both clients and venues face. In my almost 15-year career, I have encountered countless challenges and “aha” moments, which have led me to be more diligent in planning and executing events.

When we work together, you will always know where things stand. You’ll have a clear understanding of the event status at any given point, and you can count on my word, always supported by the event documentation. I am very hands-on and love working side-by-side with my clients throughout the event planning process.

Adaptability and flexibility to the ever-changing nature of events are my purview. With the use of proven & tested methods to streamline the event-planning process, I prevent any known challenges and prepare for the unexpected. Unplanned things always happen, but I have the resources and strategies needed to avoid escalation, regain control, and continue on as though there were no disruptions in the first place.

I am passionate about helping people succeed in their endeavors. Seeing my work make a difference for my clients and their guests & attendees motivates me to do more. Both helping my clients plan successful events and educating future event professionals about best practices bring me joy and fulfillment.

Who We Serve

If you…

  • Are a small or medium-sized business or an organization that hosts events regularly, but don’t have event experts on your team or you cannot justify having a full-time event planner due to the low number of events you host on an annual basis.
  • Have an event planner on your team, but the volume and size of your events is too much for one person to handle alone.
  • Dread organizing events because you are unsure whether you have what it takes to pull them off.
  • Have limited time, experience, or skills to organize an event efficiently.
  • Work with a team that has limited bandwidth to focus on creating expert content, nevermind split their regular responsibilities with event planning.
  • Hope to sell out events that go as smoothly as possible without any significant challenges or disruptions.
  • Want your attendees to be happy, engaged, and inspired to return next year.
